At 8a.nu forum there is an interested topic about bouldering and it's popularity.
Copied from 8a.nu:
Here are some reasons why bouldering has been growing so fast the last few years. During the last six months, some 50 % of the recorded ascents have actually been boulders compared to below 10 %, some ten years ago. Do you have any more ideas?
Low temperature: You can boulder below 0 degrees
No partner needed: You just need a Crash Pad
Time efficiency: Climbing tends to be time consuming
No restlessness: Less rest in between attemptsInstant kick: You send more boulders compared to routes
Recruite: It is a great feeling to get stronger during a session meanwhile a route climber often gets weaker
First Ascents: More potential rock to put up FA's
Team effort: You are always very close to your friends
Cheaper: Rope, harness and quickdraws are more expensive
Grades: You can always find a boulder to optimize your grade
There are some really nice comments worth reading them. And what is your opinion?
